I’ve been meaning to bring up this song. FutureBird was talking about how funk is making a come back. Some would say it never left, I feel that in light of all the algorithmically generated music, people are appreciating what a band can do.

I don’t remember how this came onto my radar. I was looking for the perfect prompt and it came up.

In the immortal words of Janet Jackson, what have you done for me lately? We don’t know how much time we have left on this world and what will be the next thing to happen in our lives. It’s a resource that we waste more of just by wishing that we can get it back.

If you’re not interested in something, then you have choices. Past performances does not equal perpetual presence in our lives. If anything, you changing your mind about something is a good thing in that you’re continuing to reevaluate whatever got your attention in the first place.

I’ve been trying to relearn cursive and it’s made my handwriting eligible because I keep switching back and forth. I forgot how to do certain letters and my r, n, and m keep changing.

Finished reading: As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes 📚

This was a real treat. I loved all the joy that the people making the film seemed to have. I was listening to the audiobook and it was narrated by the wonderful Cary Elwes and friends. I miss Rob Reiner.

Did not finish: The Way of Kings Book One of the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson 📚

I checked it out from the library, but things got really busy at home and there’s a pretty long waitlist. So, I gave it up just when it really started to get good.

I was thinking about some of the podcasts that I’ve been listening to recently. Some of them, I’ve been listening to for years. Over time, I’ve heard them change. I’ve changed. It’s part of how time works and if you’re lucky you will see it happen to you.

One of the things that I’ve been pondering is whether or not I’m the target audience for some of these shows. I’m not expecting that every segment is made for me, but there was always something that kept me coming back for the most part. Sometimes an episode was that great but following that one, I’d come across one that would blow my mind and have me fall in love all over again.

Unfortunately, that hasn’t been happening as much.

I find myself disagreeing with some of these content.

That’s ok. We’re not supposed to always have the same opinion. That’s part of what makes us individuals.

But, now I’m finding myself skipping sections and whole episodes after reading the notes or title.

Things I used to put on out of habit, I’m becoming more and more selective with.

This is ok.

Some of this stuff is not for me.

It’s ok to just let it go.

Finished reading: The Assassins of Thasalon: A Penric & Desdemona Novella in the World of the Five Gods by Lois McMaster Bujold 📚

I enjoyed this book in that it had various twists and turns and yet still felt cut and dry.

Which song was the first one that made you realize music can give you goosebumps?

I remember listening to this when I was younger. My dad would take me and my bother roller skating and the neon lights would turn on when this song played. I remember trying to dance in my skates and just enjoying to feeling of joy.

I loaned out my laptop to a friend a couple weeks ago and I kind of miss it being part of my writing workflow.

Honestly, he’s going to do more with it than what I was doing. He’s stuck in the hospital and I’m stuck running errands without a second to think.
