Mental Health Association San Francisco

May is Mental Health Awareness Month1 and I wanted to spread the word a little bit more. I’m in California and wanted to let people know about some resources that you may not have heard about.

The Warmline

The Peer-Run Warm Line–which began operation in 2014–is a non-emergency resource for anyone in California seeking mental and emotional support.

  1. Honestly, every month should be Mental Health Awareness Month, but we should probably focus on at least one month and promote it throughout the year. Just like Christmas. ↩︎

First Look: OmniFocus 4 for iPhone and iPad - Learn OmniFocus

First Look: OmniFocus 4 for iPhone and iPad - Learn OmniFocus

I’ve had the good fortune of being one of the first people outside of Omni to put OmniFocus 4 for iPhone and iPad through its paces. Now that the embargo has been lifted, I’m excited to share a taste of OmniFocus’ exciting future. This future is built on modern Apple technologies that will help ensure a consistent user experience across all of the platforms that Omni supports.

This has been my favorite review of what is going to happen in the new OmniFocus from @Omni.

A Monday In May (Belated)

Just a short post as I get back to podcasting.

OmniFocus 4 First Look & Invitation to Help Test

I’m always excited by something new!

Today, we are excited to provide a first look at the update currently in development for iPad and iPhone, and invite you to share feedback with us via the OmniFocus 4 TestFlight! OmniFocus 4 forecast perspective.

My only hesitation is that the last time they had a major version of OmniFocus, Apple changed the design language that they used and they had to start all over.

Either way, this is going to be exciting.

Mental Health Awareness Month 2021

Mental Health Awareness Month began in the United States in 1949 and was started by the Mental Health America (MHA) organization (then known as the National Association for Mental Health). Each year in mid-March Mental Health America releases a toolkit of materials to guide preparation for outreach activities during Mental Health Awareness Month. During the month of May, MHA, its affiliates, and other organizations interested in mental health conduct a number of activities which are based on a different theme each year.

To further my own goals for mental health, I’ve rededicated myself to writing in my journal and doing at least 20 minutes of exercise every day.

Going through the old passwords

It feels pretty good to have some of these passwords cleaned up.

Buying a House: Home Prices Soar in U.S. Market Where Demand Outpaces Supply - Bloomberg

Demand is so fierce that almost half of U.S. homes are selling within a week of hitting the market, a record pace, according to Redfin. Annual price growth reached 17% in March, the highest in data going back to 2012. Urgency is amped up, with real estate agents commonly limiting bidding to a few days and then pitting buyers against each other.

Me and the wife were hoping that we’d be able to afford something this year, but it looks like we only have disappointment and higher rent to look foreward to.

Automatic Affirmations

It’s hard for me to keep myself on target sometimes and to look back at my accomplishments. This can be hard in a digital world because I have trouble reviewing what I’ve done in the past. For years, I’ve attempted to track tasks in OmniFocus1.

Items completed in OmniFocus. I’ve looked at the completed perspective in OmniFocus.

And I’ve messed around with a couple widgets on my homescreen, but it sometimes it gets a little fiddly and the recent Shortcut outage has made me want to put something like that on hold.

So, I put some time into searching the internet and forums finally came across this post by Colter Reed. It had a format that was easy to follow.

The only issue I had with it was that it was originally intended to be run as a TextExpander snippet and I wanted this process to be as automatic as possible. Luckily, I have been meaning to do more with Keyboard Maestro.

It took some experimenting on my end, but I was able to use the url schemas from Day One and then have it trigger at 11:45 PM every day.
