Good evening, good morning, and good afternoon.
Today is another wonderful Monday.
It’s Monday, November 18th in the year 2024.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
Coming from a kind of a slow weekend, I took off work, or actually I started work early so I could get off early on Friday in order to see the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight, if you want to call it that.
I was expecting a little more excitement.
I was actually expecting more, I guess, carnage, if you will.
The primal part of me wanted to see something that would distract me from just all the things that are happening in my life.
Just one big battle that says, all right, these two people are knocking each other out and at the end they’ll shake hands and both be millionaires like they were before the fight started.
But it didn’t happen and I’m not too happy about it, but I’m happy that no one got seriously hurt.
The undercard fights were actually pretty interesting for the most part.
We had another influencer fighting a regular boxer and just seeing them go at it.
Not too good, but whatever.
And then there was a fight, I think they were Welterweights, and I kind of like the Welterweights more than the Heavyweights because they show more style, or not style, but there’s more of a battle between the two of them as they try to pummel each other.
Just the simple fact that it’s not one and done, but if it does happen, it happens.
They went the entire 12 rounds and then there was a fight between two women and it was really, really bloody.
I kind of knew that it was going to end in a draw, but that’s what happened.
And then again, there was the title fight of Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul and there was so much hype built up about what was going to happen and it was so, so boring.
And it was kind of weird because they’re two minute rounds and between all the buffering and the waiting, I fell asleep.
I fell asleep somewhere around round three and four for just a brief instance.
It was just that entertaining.
So there you have it.
Woo! What a way to start a weekend, like a snooze fest.
After the fight was over, I went to bed and that was pretty much it for that.
So on to other things, I finished watching The Penguin on Max and I believe I talked about it last week.
There was a spoiler that someone put in a headline of like, oh, after this character did this, what does that mean for XYZ?
It made me not want to watch the episode, but I decided that I was going to power through it and see it anyway.
I just needed something to watch or just to have on in the background and it was actually pretty good.
The execution of the different plot points were pretty good.
I’ve been talking about The Penguin for a while and I think it’s a pretty decent show in that it has some stuff that’s interesting with how the characters are portrayed by the actors.
You can see like, okay, there’s like action and electricity on the screen here.
And even though they’re not good people, they still have a little bit of gravitas that draws you in and it kind of, for me, made me overlook a lot of the issues that you could perceive in the plot.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with it.
It looks like there might be another season.
I don’t know where they would go with it.
Similar to when I saw the TV show Chaos with Jeff Goldblum.
It was a really good show.
I could see them maybe having another season because of how much quality and care was put into it, but ultimately, as much as I enjoy it, I don’t know where they would go with a second season.
I would love to see a second season, but I don’t know where it would go.
I guess that’s what the writers would need to do.
So we’ll see what happens with that.
I am currently reading How to Calm Your Mind by Chris Bailey.
I feel it’s really apt since things are the way they are.
A lot of uncertainty in what’s going to happen with our future.
For some people, they’re looking at the election like, oh man, this is not what I expected or if they had any expectations.
Things are definitely going to be different, especially since the president-elect has a quote-unquote mandate of what they want to happen.
I’m not going to go there, but we’ll see what happens and I’m going to be hopefully a voice for you and for myself on what we can do going forward.
So I’m trying to just calm my mind, figure out what is the best way to be that rock or foundation for, not just for my family and friends, but for myself.
Because if I’m not calm, I can’t expect everyone else to just always pick up the slack.
I have to do what I can to make the most of the situation that I am in and hopefully others will see that and say, alright, well that’s someone I can count on to have their head on their shoulders and move forward with things.
So we’ll see what happens with that.
It’s a book and sometimes it’s hard for me to dedicate time to it, especially since we’re going into the holiday season and that’s usually a lot of just stress for a lot of people here where I’m at.
It’s time when the family gets together and I know that some of my family did not feel the same way about the election and don’t feel the same way about a number of social issues.
So being calm in that scenario, if we are all together and a topic comes up, responding with emotion is not going to reach some people.
They don’t understand it and it’s not one way to get it across.
I’m not saying, hey, don’t be angry or don’t be frustrated.
I’m saying sometimes you have to understand it doesn’t matter.
There is a lot of people who are feeling one way or another and they want to have that reaction from you.
Don’t give it to them.
Understand that your energy is best used to making your life better and the life around you better.
If someone wants to just make you unhappy just to make you unhappy, then they’re wasting your time and they’re wasting their own time as well.
One final thing, I stopped writing and posting as much in the last couple weeks.
I attribute it to the election, but it could just be lots of other things going on as well.
Life is busy and all those NaNoWriMo, I think part of it is there’s so much expectation for that portion.
NaNoWriMo, I feel, comes at a really inopportune time for me, seeing as it’s the holidays and for some people, yeah, this would be great for writing, but it’s also a time for my kids to do their finals and everyone else to do their stuff as well.
I just haven’t done a lot of posting.
I had set out to post every day.
I have a whole bunch of things in my draft, by a whole bunch, I mean two or three.
After this podcast is released, I’ll probably release those posts because no one’s really reading the website anyway, so might as well just put the posts up there, do a quick edit and then send them out.
So anyway, I hope this podcast finds you well and whoever you are, whether it’s a stranger, a friend or even myself, know that, hey, it’s Monday and if you’re lucky, I’ll see you again next Monday.
So take care.
