As some of you may know, I live in an apartment complex. One of the perks is that it has a little gym on the premises. It’s something that they put on the brochure to attract new tenants and justification to raise the rent. I do enjoy the convenience of it and it is a pretty good size room, but you do get a feeling that it’s mostly a check box for management and not something they see as an ongoing project.
There are few major issues with the gym here:
-
The air conditioner doesn’t work. Yes, this is good for those who want to work up a sweat, but the last time I checked we’re still going through a pandemic and I think we’d all be better with a well ventilated area.
-
The equipment is all from the early 80s. I’m happy that we have it but a lot of the stuff is barely working if it’s working at all. The display on the tread mill has red light up digits that make me feel that it should be the count down on a doomsday device.

Other people take it for granted. For some reason, people get entitled and thing that just because you’re paying for the gym you don’t have to clean up after yourself.
